Clifton Gorge
Hidden by towering trees that have stood for more than 300 years, a three
mile portion of the Little Miami River flows through a deep canyon near the tiny village
of Clifton. Sheltered by long-reaching lush green branches and cooled by the waters
rush down the river, this canyon offers a welcome showcase for hundreds of plants and
wildflowers, many which are rare in the region. Once called one of
the nation's 50 most
beautiful places by National Geographic, the Clifton Gorge is a natural wonder
steeped in history.
Parking lots for Clifton Gorge are located off OH-343 and S. Jackson St.
in Clifton. Open daily year-round. Admission is free.
Trails
in Clifton Gorge are steep and sometimes slippery, so be careful. 937-767-1274.
